Devendra Naik is a Mumbai-based self-taught photographic artist whose practice emerged from his early experiences travelling through the Himalayas. What began alongside his interest in trekking developed into a sustained engagement with landscape, indigenous cultures, and human relationships across India. His photographs are informed by patience, observation, and an emphasis on allowing moments to unfold naturally rather than intervening in them.

The Himalayas remain a central influence on Devendra's visual language, particularly their landscapes, stillness, and changing atmosphere. His work also extends to communities and cultural traditions, documenting indigenous groups and everyday expressions of belonging, affection, and resilience. Across these subjects, he favours authenticity and emotional connection over spectacle.

Devendra has presented work at Jehangir Art Gallery, including Himalayas – The Tranquil Land (2014), Distinct Cultures – Lifestyle of Our Ethnic Cousins (2017), and Mother's Embrace (2024). His photographs have also been exhibited at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Gallerie Leela, Artival, Kalaa Spandan Art Fair, the Photographic Society of India, and the Kala Ghoda Art Festival.

He is co-author of the photography book Chitrakatha, which brings together visual narratives addressing India's natural and cultural diversity. His practice has also been featured in Smart Photography magazine. Devendra has received both Photographer of the Year and Photograph of the Year recognitions from the Photographic Society of India.
