Dhananjay Sastakar
About the Artist

Dhananjay Chandrakant Sastakar’s artistic practice is rooted in a deep fascination with architecture, heritage, memory and the visual character of places. His works transform historic streets, buildings, doors, windows, balconies and urban structures into atmospheric compositions that preserve the spirit of a place. A sensitive observer, Sastakar draws inspiration from the details often overlooked in everyday surroundings. His paintings explore the relationship between architecture and human life, portraying not only buildings but also the stories, memories and emotions embedded within them. His monochromatic and richly textured works often evoke the passage of time, while his use of colour adds warmth and nostalgia. His practice encompasses Indian architectural heritage, particularly Rajasthan and Goa, as well as European architectural traditions. He has explored Roman and Gothic architecture, historic European cities and the distinctive play of light and shadow across architectural surfaces. Through his paintings, Sastakar seeks to revive forgotten visual memories and invite viewers to look at familiar spaces with renewed attention.
