Nandini Bajekal is an Indian artist specialising in contemporary Oriental brush painting. Working on rice paper with traditional Chinese inks and watercolours, she creates meditative landscapes inspired by the philosophy of Xieyi (freehand) painting and her enduring fascination with mountains as symbols of stillness, contemplation, and spiritual transcendence.

Originally trained in Applied Art at Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai, Nandini later pursued formal studies in Chinese brush painting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore. She further refined her practice through more than a decade of mentorship under distinguished artists Chen Shi Jin and Lim Choon Jin, developing a contemporary style that honours traditional techniques while embracing personal expression.

For over three decades, Nandini has exhibited her work extensively across India and internationally, participating in exhibitions and art fairs in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside solo presentations in India. Her paintings are held in private collections across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australasia.

Grounded in the philosophy that painting seeks to capture the inner spirit rather than the outward appearance of a subject, Nandini's work invites quiet contemplation, using gesture, space, and simplicity to evoke the profound presence of the natural world.
