Satendra Mhatre (b. 1985, Panvel, Maharashtra) is an Indian contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice investigates the intersections of abstraction, consciousness, and Indian philosophical thought. Working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, he creates layered compositions that examine perception, memory, emotion, and the transformative potential of visual experience.
A graduate of L. S. Raheja School of Art, Mumbai, where he earned a G.D. Art in Drawing and Painting, Satendra also holds diplomas from Model Art Institute and Kalasagar Kala Mahavidyalaya. His practice is informed by meditation, material exploration, and the belief that abstraction serves as a universal language capable of expressing experiences beyond words.
Satendra has exhibited extensively in India through solo presentations at Pradarshak Art Gallery and Jehangir Art Gallery, alongside participation in the National Exhibition of Art, Bombay Art Society, Maharashtra State Art Exhibition, and numerous group exhibitions. His early artistic promise was recognised through multiple awards, including Portrait of the Year and Best Landscape at L. S. Raheja School of Art, as well as honours from Mudra Kala Niketan.
Grounded in both Indian aesthetics and contemporary abstraction, Satendra's work invites viewers into contemplative spaces where texture, gesture, and symbolism become vehicles for introspection. His evolving practice continues to explore the relationship between the material and the intangible, positioning painting as both visual inquiry and meditative experience.
