Shantanu Das is a Mumbai-based photojournalist and documentary photographer whose practice spans more than three decades of visual storytelling. His work focuses on everyday life, cultural traditions, significant events, and the people who shape India's diverse social landscape.

Shantanu's interest in photography began in childhood through his fascination with his uncle's Agfa Click III camera. That early curiosity developed into a professional career encompassing breaking news, Bollywood, festivals, tribal communities, rural life, and documentary subjects. His photographs have appeared in publications including The Times of India, Bombay Times, and The Hindu.

In recent years, cultural heritage and traditions have become an important focus of his practice. His exhibitions include That Vision Thing at the Bombay Press Club, The Land of the Rising Sun (Japan), Udvada – A Parsi Village, Glimpses of Mongolia, Borders In and Out, and Parsi: A Timeless Legacy. His work was also included in Lens and Legacy: Bollywood in Focus at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, in 2026.

Shantanu has received numerous recognitions, including the Lalit Kala Akademi Award for Covid Warriors (2021), the National Geographic Traveler Photography Award (2011), the MFI National Press Photo Award in 2011 and 2012, and Young Portfolio Awards from the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts in Japan. He is a graduate of the University of Calcutta.
