Umakant Kanade is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice is centred on the quiet poetry of the natural world. Working primarily in monochrome, he explores themes of resilience, memory, coexistence, and the relationship between humanity and nature through recurring motifs such as birds, nests, trees, and stones.

A graduate with a Government Diploma in Fine Arts, Umakant has developed a highly personal visual language that emphasises texture, form, and atmosphere over colour. His restrained compositions encourage close observation, revealing the emotional depth and symbolic significance embedded within ordinary elements of the landscape.

Over the course of his career, Umakant has presented numerous solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 500 group exhibitions, establishing a sustained presence within India's contemporary art community. His work reflects years of dedicated practice and an ongoing exploration of nature as both subject and metaphor.
