Gateway to Eternity Rendered entirely with ballpoint pen, this artwork pays tribute to the iconic Gateway of India, one of Mumbai's most celebrated architectural landmarks. Through meticulous line work, layered textures and subtle tonal gradations, the drawing captures the monument's grandeur alongside the everyday rhythm of the city. The gathering of pigeons and visitors adds life and movement, transforming a historic structure into a living symbol of culture, memory and human connection. Created entirely with blue ballpoint pen, Harbour of Heritage captures a distinctive perspective of Mumbai's iconic Gateway of India from the edge of the Arabian Sea. The composition unites monumental architecture, the gentle movement of water, and the presence of the ferry, celebrating the city's enduring relationship with its coastline. Through thousands of meticulously layered pen strokes, every stone, ripple and reflection is rendered with remarkable precision, transforming a familiar urban landscape into a timeless narrative of travel, history and cultural identity. The artwork stands as a testament to the expressive depth and technical possibilities of the humble ballpoint pen.

This artwork belongs to the “Godhadi Series” and specifically to its subseries focusing on “Global Monuments”. It reinterprets the Statue of Liberty — a universal emblem of freedom and democracy — through the traditional craft of the godhadi, a hand-stitched quilt made by elderly women in Indian households. The quilt, often composed of worn-out yet memory-rich fabrics, represents resilience, nurturing care, and inherited strength. By clothing the Statue of Liberty in godhadi-patterned fabric, the painting bridges the global ideal of liberty with feminine labor, ancestral wisdom, and domestic artistry. The background — merging the New York skyline with Indian textile motifs and symbolic patterns — evokes a conversation between East and West, tradition and modernity, the monumental and the handmade. Here, Liberty is not just a statue, but a stitched spirit — crafted by the hands of many women, across cultures and generations.

This painting is a masterful convergence of contemporary realism and the timeless elegance of the Indian Miniature tradition. The work is structured like a vertical manuscript painting, with the central subject framed by intricate borders and flat, brightly coloured architectural planes, reminiscent of Mughal or Rajasthani Ragamala series. The artist employs the miniature aesthetic through the use of rich, saturated colours, meticulous detail in the subject's shringar (adornment), and the crisp delineation of space. The figure's introspective pose, holding the symbolic lotus, captures a bhava (emotional state) often central to the Miniature tradition. By merging these classical visual elements with a modern sensibility, the painting creates a 'New Ragamala,' celebrating the enduring power of Indian pictorial history.

Man Mandir Ghat, with its grand architecture, stands as one of Varanasi’s finest heritage sites. Around its historic arches and stone steps, sants move with quiet grace, filling the space with spiritual vibrations. My work seeks to reflect this union of architectural splendour and living faith.

Crawford Market, with its grand colonial design, bustles with trade and movement. Inside, porters labour with quiet strength, carrying goods through the lively stalls. My work reflects this blend of heritage, human effort, and the city’s enduring spirit.

Commuters stream towards the exit gate after arriving at Churchgate Station, the southern terminus of Mumbai's Western Railway suburban network. For millions of Mumbaikars, this daily journey is more than a commute—it is the rhythm of life in a city that never slows down. The photograph captures the energy, movement, and collective spirit that define Mumbai's local train network.

A group of Manganiyar folk musicians from Rajasthan perform from different illuminated boxes, creating a unique visual and musical experience. Captured at the NCPA, Mumbai, the performance celebrates the rich musical heritage of Rajasthan through rhythm, harmony, and tradition.
