Farmers 2

Farmers (2026) expands my 2025 'Farmers' study into a 36x48 inch frieze of agrarian life. Two central women - one bearing firewood, the other fodder and produce - lead the procession. Around them, farmers with axe and lathi, children holding goat ropes, and sunflowers tower over the red horizon. My signature vermillion background now holds smoke-grey skies and wooden fences, suggesting both drought and resilience. The sarees are rendered as collages of village life - tiny huts, birds, pots. Painted in semi-cubist folk style, the work is about migration as survival, where every step home carries the weight and wealth of the land.
